Has anyone tried feeding them AM600? I know it's kinda high priced to be feeding to deer but was just wondering if they would even touch it? With it being so high in protien you would think it would be good for them....

Or a set of fins!
Since deer are vegetarians (well, yeah, there's that 1% that're omnivores) I can't see them being attracted to the AM food because of the fish smell. I'd bet the 'coons would love it tho!!!

Scott, I thought that the DNR in IN outlawed feeding deer because of the spreading of disease. Do you know if that is correct?

Scott, I thought that the DNR in IN outlawed feeding deer because of the spreading of disease. Do you know if that is correct? No. Feeding deer is legal. Hunting in the area where the deer are influenced by food, minerals, etc. is illegal. All traces of food and minerals *and affected soil* must be removed 10 days prior to hunting that area. Hunting near an apple tree is legal. Putting apples under that apple tree is not legal if they didn't come from that tree. Planting and hunting over food plots is legal. Sorta like deer hunting with a pistol chambered for 30-06 is legal but if you are using a 30-06 rifle it isn't legal.

A friend has the deer regularly eat Aquamax that gets flung onto the shoreline of his pond. So they definitely will eat it...

I wouldn't try to feed or draw in deer with AMAX. I wouldn't feed deer on protein pellets meant for fish. Both are formulated for specific purposes and digestion. Deer wouldn't get much nutritional value from ground and baked Menhaden. They are strictly herbivores.
And AMAQX is too darn expensive when deer really only need a 20% protein pellet.
Want to draw in and feed deer? Dump some rice bran on the ground. I actually mix corn, 14% creep feed and rice bran into a spin feeder. Then dump about a gallon or so on the ground. That stuff is deer cocaine and I am told that it is heavily used in the 20% protein pellets that high fence deer are fed during times other than hunting season.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
