I know raking weeds sometimes just excites them to growing faster and better. But in the past I had bad luck with clemicals. So I wander if any one on the forum has had any luck with raking?

How about tilapia or grass carp? I personally have never needed to control aquatic weeds (only emergent weeds), but a few grass carp would be my first try. It does take a while for their effect to kick in though, so you need to be patient. Too many and they may start in on your desirable plants, so you need to start slowly with the numbers and wait for them to get going.

Unfortunately Michigan doesn't allow any type of grass carp. The season is winding down pretty quickly for Tilapia too...

What is the justification for prohibiting grass carp?

What is the justification for prohibiting grass carp? I'll bet it's equal parts ignorance and complacency.
"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"
If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1) And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1) Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT? PB answer: It depends.

Who the heck knows. I think it's a $50,000 fine for having any live ones in Michigan. (it could be $250K, I forget which). Heck, Illinois doesn't allow any Tilapia stocking in ponds, and even requires VHS testing for Tilapia that are to be used for food fish. Just crazy if you ask me. That makes no sense whatsoever.

Glad to know my faith in government regulation does not need to be altered:)
