Ok, so I have a pond in Idaho, maybe 1.5. to 2 acres depending on the time of year. Fed my underground spring and run off. No river to it or other source.
I threw in a hand full of channel cats, maybe 2-4 inches in size 4 years ago on a visit to this property before I moved here last year. I had no idea what became of them and the wife had one sighting ( she thought last year about this time of year).
Last week the chocolate lab runs up with a dead 14 inch channel catfish.
I have decided to add a couple of spawning containers and need some ideas? I have one vintage milk can as I see people have used those on occasion.
I also read that the spawning containers need to be 2-3 feet deep? Is this accurate.
But, if you are dead set on having reproduction, they are cavity spawners. Take a 30 gallon barrel, cut one end completely out. Sink it in 4' of water so the open end faces deep water.
