I am new to this site and to pond building. I have a beatiful piece of land 100 acres on the eastern shore of Maryland. There is a small pond there now about 1 acre. I train field trail labrador retrievers and this would be a traning pond for the dogs. I have concerns about the soil holding water, under ground springs that might either help or hurt the cause. Does anyone know of someone that consults in this area or where I would go for help. I have a pond design but don't want to put out all the money only to find out it will not hold water. Thanks for any advice.

Welcome to the PB forum. We have several members who do just what you are describing ( ducks and dogs). Check with your NRCS agent and or your county or state coop. extension agent first. Here is the link to the Maryland Coop. ext. local agents. http://extension.umd.edu/local/index.cfm Here is one ducks and dogs link. There are several more with training pond pics. http://www.pondboss.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=20;t=002766#000000
