Brave little girl holding those tubby HBG. Nice job of raising HBG and a young girl that is not afraid of those teeth on a HSB.

Nice fish and cute little girl.

That was about the size of mine at one year from stocking. A few at 7" but a lot at the size you are catching.

One point of order. I think when you say the fish are one year old, you really mean one year from stocking the fingerlings. The fish are likely.............. two years old?????? Maybe the experts will chime to correct me if I am wrong.

But we knew what you meant.

Yep that girl goes with me to feed the fish every night and we fish at least once a week. It took me awhile to convince her to hold them but she does it all the time now. She is 3 and half years old.

Snrub

Yes I agree I stocked them a year ago and they were 1 to 2 inch so yep probably about 2 years of age.

Hundreds or thousands of fish were collected and the measurements of length and weight were taken usually during research projects. Then determine average for each size category was calculated.

Get your fish poles out, get a ruler and a food or postal scales, collect some bait and go fishing. Get your kids to help as a family project. Report back here with your results. There are members that will gladly tabulate the data.

Here are the first lengths & weights(ave) from the book (K.D. Carlander).
Total Lgn Weight
inches(mm) ounces (grams)
4.8 (124mm) 1.38 (41g)
5.3 (135mm) 2.0 (59g)
8.58(218mm) 11.3 (336g)

For the chart. Caught this weekend. Unfed 1/2 acre pond.

Thank you sir! Much appreciated.

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

Hey Spark, I have access to a pond that has the Heinz 57 blend of GSH, BG, and PS. I really do su*k at identifying unless real obvious! Would you like to see some of these fish, along with their stats, or do you just want GSFxBG hybrid data here?

* I have to be honest I have a real weakness for those hybrids with PS genes in them. Gorgeous fish especially in the peat stained ponds!*

To keep things simple, how about just the BG x GSF data right now?

Just caught some HBG tonight, not fed.
8.75 inches. 8.75 oz.
6.5 inches 4.25 oz
5 inches 2.2 oz
6 inches 2.9 oz

I have bigger fish but the CLPW is so thick I don't have a lot of open water - this was with worm bits under a bobber. Also caught 3 BG, 1 RES and 2 LMB
