Today while at one of my ponds I caught a chunky bluegill that may have been on a bed. The bigger bluegill aren't usually in this area of the pond so I guess it's a late spawner? I wasn't trying to catch a fish off a bed but she wanted the swimbait I was using to catch bass. It weighed 1lb 2oz. It's not even an acre pond but there's big bluegill and nice bass that are pellet trained. Thanks to Pond Boss for letting me know about Aquamax. They are like pirahnas when they are eating it.

That looks like a male HBG....nice fish!

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

Beautiful HBG..

I believe in catch and release. I catch then release to the grease..

Thanks. I didn't measure this one but have measured a couple recently that were in the 11 inch range. Usually the bigger gills are concentrated in one area where they know the feedings take place.I figured it was female being as chunky as it was and was caught in the bedding areas.

I agree with sprkplug; that one looks like a hybrid bluegill. Fat either with eggs or full of Aquamax.
