I have two ponds in Chester County S. C.-- Clemson Univ. Ag.Lab only provides an irrigation water test and recommendations are not applicable for ponds but are still helpful. What facilities or Universities near S.C offer good pond water test and recommendation?

I have one pond with a ph of 7.0 and a larger pond with a ph of 8.6 to 9.0-both ponds have agricultural run off from a no-till farming operation. I have 100' fescue buffers. Would 200' buffers reduce runoff issues significantly better?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Would you be open to the idea of putting a water sample in a cleaned out 12-16 oz screw top water bottle, taping the top, putting it in 2 zip lok bags and shipping the sample via USPS Priority Mail to a diffrent lab if it wasn't in SC?

Absolutely-I appreciate your response. Looking for a water treatment plan. Without a very good water chemistry test for pond water,I know that I can not make good decisions as to what to do. Heavy planktonic bloom and high PH are concerns. Previous test have indicated high phosphorous and PH approaching 9.0--I have 100' buffers around pond but agricultural run off from corn and bean fields seem to keep my water very fertile.

Send lab info and cost and I will send samples promptly

Thanks

No ice?

WI state lab wants the samples iced to preserve. They provide a cooler and bags.

Thanks for sharing that useful idea. Water is essential for life, without water human can only survive for days. Even plants and animals needs it. Unfortunately, microscopic organisms and other impurities can poison drinkers over time. Learn about how screening water for safety can be done in your own home.
