I eat a lot of wild things, and mushrooms are one of the things that I'm VERY careful with. I think that Peterson Guide has 2 mushroom books out (at least I think they have 2 out), but I'd do a very exhaustive internet search to positively ID them before even tasting them, and I'd feel a LOT better if I were to find someone to physically go with me to positively ID them before even picking 'em. Be VERY positive with your ID, there are some mushrooms that are mildly poisonous to some people that look like perfectly edible ones.
If nobody here comes back with a positive ID, then I'd do an exhaustive google search on edible mushrooms. To me, if there was even a slight question if it was a good or bad mushroom, I'd leave it in the woods and not take a chance.
I have a great book in my car but I'm way too lazy to go get it now.. I'll tell you what they are tomorrow when I get back out of bed.. Top one kind of looks like a chantrelle bottom might be a bollete? Spelled somethjng like thst just a guess no sure at all..
I believe in catch and release. I catch then release to the grease..
I'm pretty sure ones a chantrelle ones a bollete.. I wouldn't eat then even though there edible.. look them up and compare the pics to your mushrooms easier to do in person.. Also chantrelles will really be Poppin here soon so if you waste a few learning what they are you'll be fine.. bollette I know little about never picked or ate one they can look alot of different ways so takes time to learn them..

Not always but quite often in the natural world, the brighter the color the better avoided. Don't know for sure of but a few safe types but compared to a run to the ER and four days off work, $3 for a couple of Portabalas from the grocery is a bargin. I used to prefer the ones that grew in cow patties but tooooo much of anthing just ain't good.
Do nature a favor, spay/neuter your pets and any weird friends or relatives.
I'm pretty much the same as you esshup. But I'm gonna get into those chantrelles this year guy at work says they are great and very plentiful when poppin..
Chickens and Hen mushrooms are absolutely great anyone not trying one should atleast give them a try their damn good..

Some of the mushrooms I have had years ago... A static painting on the wall of a field full of flowers was blowing in the breeze kinda gently, then the damn Armadillo was being elusive running around and behind the couch and about the house. A few people tried to catch it
It's frozen outside during winter in MI, but I think they had decent heat going. Not quite sure tho. Everything tasted like pepper for a day or so.
Pretty sure I saw a Sasquatch and it's cronies trying to flank me at one time and gain position, but it just ended up being a few cornstalks in a field.
At least these were non-poisonous, but I would not trust them
