So this biologist from Jones fish comes out and evaluates the club pond. She reportedly says the mass of trees at the inlet, 50 foot tall cottonwoods mostly, are not a problem and they filter the water. (how the do that when the water runs on the surface around them I do not know)

Yet she gives a report stating excessive nutrients, and in that report she cites field runoff and leaf litter. But that's ok, we will just spray with Clipper at $250 a pound, Sonar AS at $429.99 a pint and use this stuff called nutrisorb (bacteria and enzymes)at $500 a season. And we will do that forever.

I guess I'm just a big dummy. I figured that if you cut those trees you loose the leaf litter problem. And since it's those trees that shade the inlet so nothing grows, if you cut them cattails will grow and we can get pickerel weed going in the inlet cove and those plants do filter the water and use large amounts of nutrients.

Hmm, maybe I just study too much of the stuff that comes out of universities, the EPA and the USDA/NRSC and here. Lord knows they can't know what they're doing.

Or, possibly, this woman may have a biology degree of some kind but she's really a salesman. After all, if they solve the issues then they don't get paid beyond that.

Naw, I'm just a big dummy, that has to be it.

Garry, welcome to the not so exclusive club.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

I think I have another opinion coming. The man just retired and was USDA/NRSC district manager in my area. He has decades of experience and specialized in wetlands. I'm going to take him a copy of her report. I explained, and made a detailed disk of pictures.

And he does not have a financial interest he is mot playing a dual role of biologist and salesman.
