I'm planning to stock a 5ac. pond (new construction) with bream and Florida largemouth. The truck will be in my area with Bluegill and Red Ear Sunfish (shellcrackers), 1-3", at the end of May. My LMB hatchery says that the Florida largemouth won't be ready until mid or late June, and they will be 1-2" long at stocking. If I stock the RES and bluegill this month, am I setting the FLMB up to be prey to them this summer? Would it be better to stock the RES now and wait a couple of months on the bluegill?
Just fyi, the pond was stocked with fathead minnows early in the spring, and they spawned well. It also has tadpoles of all sizes.
Wet? I was born wet.

I would wait until the next year. I always advise to stock bass when they can go to sleep with their mouth open and wake up with a full belly.
1 to 2 inch bass are pretty fragile. No way I would stock them.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
