I have noticed just recently that at the aerator boil the color of water seems brown say like the color of light chocolate and the smell is still strong of hydrogen sulfide or rotten eggs. Over all color I cant tell because the pond is still covered with WM and DW. I know the diffuser is off the bottom of the pond the height of a five gallon bucket(I checked first) Any Ideas on the color change?
Oh and just tonight I found out where the county extension is so I think I will contact them tomorrow to see about water samples

Maybe your diffuser/airstone tipped over into the bottom muck?

Maybe your diffusers are pulling new bottom water into the boil from farther reaches of the unmixed bottom zones.

Could be pulling new water in I guess, the pond is still a mess on the bottom and will be for a while I bet, you can throw out a weed cutter and drag it in causing a large amount of bubbles to be released from the bottom which I assume is bad air bubbles around the entire pond. I have pulled the diffuser up and let it settle back down thinking that it has landed up right. It has a 4' foot print with 4- 1" pvc pipe sticking out of the bottom of a 5 gal. bucket. It was very hard to remove from the bottom when I checked it last time, kinda like it was stuck in the mucked the released from bottom and pulled up, maybe I will check it again tommorow night to see if it is still sitting upright. Thanks for the ideas

this is a picture of the water color, maybe better light may make it more pronounced its kinda like a translucent brown or something. I think I will get started on the enzymes soon maybe this weekend. Of course it looks 100% better than it did 30 days ago

"Of course it looks 100% better than it did 30 days ago"..No doubt about that. Looks like you are just on schedule for FH and BG stocking in fall and LMB in spring. Did you end up having to get a 2nd Sonar treatment, or did the one do the trick? Maybe in a few wks. you can get a water sample done after the bacteria have had some time to work.

Nope just 1 treatment! Almost overnight I might add.I was really getting worried that nothing was going to die about a week ago. Still some lingering around and I hope it is dying also, I am hoping to stock FH and BG this fall and LMB in the spring like you said. I have found the county office for the water samples to be taken to but I havent talked to them, how much water do you take into them?
I have started rounding up old pvc water pipe that we have replaced out and thinking of building something to throw in there for cover, nothing as clever as I have seen but maybe stacked side by side and banded or tied together
I hope that the water stays clear of the weeds this summer so I can get fish started and If I have to maybe early spring hit it again with maybe half dose even if it hasnt started up

It doesn't take much water for a test. Texas A & M requests that you use a new baby bottle.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
