Going out a couple days this weekend. We've been seeing good reports and with the rain today, the hunting should be very good this weekend.

I see you guys are in for some severe storms later. The line goes all the way down past Dallas. Stay safe everyone!!

Maybe the rain will get 'em to pop in the next few days.

Nothing here, we were below freezing this morning (again).

Now I ain't jerkin anyones chain and maybe some others know of this. Years ago a fella showed me a newspaper article(pre puter days) about a couple up in Michigan that when they found fresh ones would shade them with an umbrella type cover and water them heavily twice a day. They could grow them as big as Cecils YP, seriously, 12-14"s.Yes there were pictures. (pre photo shop)
Several yrs ago I was out and hit on a bunch of big yellows, 2 lbs. My daughter had moved to Nashville several yrs before and was bummed that they couldn't find any around there. I packed them yellows up and sent em overnight UPS(costs 28 bucks). Got a call the next dat and when I said hello, I heard "hows the coolest pop in the world"? Dang if that didn't puff my skinny ol chest up.
We should thank the good Lord for every blessings we get everyday.

Hit um hard yesterday prolly found 40 nice greys.. Made a major mistake today long story short buddy of mine had some difficulties and I told him I'd take him (not my sweet spots) and everything we find we'll split 50/50 I kinda quit counting after I had atleast 50 Greys and yellows and he was still under 10... anyways live and learn he got hooked up I've handed out to who I hand out to family and such now I have a couple nice meals left for myself.. Back on it tomorrow couple more places to check.. I think this weeks long cold front will put major brakes on this season and most likely my yellow spots won't produce this year..

My and cousin found this Thursday. He likes them better than whites.

I let him keep that that one. I've had my experience with those. They are Russian roulette. Dang good eating but you might have to be near a toilet the next day. Explosive diarrhea! Never cover them in that siracha sauce. Whooo! Wee! That hurt. I'll stick with these. These where only whites we found. He ate that whole false morel for supper. They don't make him sick. Crazy!

I just read clip of an article from Mo dept of nat resources that stated eating them now won't necessarily effect you but the toxin or poison in them can build up in your body and cause long term effects..

Went three times today, ended up with around 70 total. Some from this morning's batch:

Ok, I'm willing to accept that I have no idea what I'm doing, but this is the 3rd year now of not finding one Morel on my property.

I have over 15 acres of wooded area, running creek (steep bank) throughout the property and every tree (live and dead) named that is supposed to be good for hunting Morels.

Is there a chance there's critters getting to them before I can? I have a slew of deer & turkey, but also coyote, bobcat, mink, muskrat, coons, opossum, etc., let alone the flying critters as well.

I'm seeing your pictures of these beautiful Morels getting posted and making me realize I just need to accept defeat!

But I won't! mad

They gotta be there don't they?

I don't know the time line for Nebraska but they might not even be up.. ask Tj this year's time line seems a little off to me little later than normal..

Animals won't get them all.. 15 acres might simply not have any between my 3-4 places were talking close to 3000 total acres not all wooded acres but prolly close to half is and I hunt hard sometimes 6+ hours a day up and down sinkholes and hills the hole time..If I average 2-3 hr I'm usually pretty happy..
