Pond Boss Forums STOCKING A NEW POND Types of fish to choose New 1/4 acre pond YP,BG,LMB?

Is this possible? For purposes of growing YP and BG to table fare size. What forage would be best utilized? I have the means of overstocking the pond with forage (1/4 acre wont cost a ton).

Are shiners an option here? Or would you just go with FHM to get the fish going in year 1 and 2? Beyond that let the YOY feed the pond?

Open to lots of options here including aeration and feeding. Mainly want to make it an overall good fishing pond where I'm throwing back the largest of the YP and BG and harvesting the mid sized fish.

I feel like LMB are my best bet here as a predator, but do have the ability to purchase HSB and 6"ish SMB as I did for my other pond.

To do what you are trying to achieve, IMO feeding will need to be necessary to keep 'good' growth rates. Overpopulation will be a definite concern with two prolific panfish involved. You might want to consider using HGB instead of BG to reduce the chances of overpopulation by 50%.
