With having full ice-out and the temps hitting 70 yesterday afternoon, It was time to toss in a line.

The good?

It appears the LMB stockers from 9-1-12 are growing well, and although I caught a few smaller ones, none appeared stunted. From this point on I will check the WR on each one caught and as hard as it is, start removing the smaller ones.

The bad?

Even after pulling over 1600 BCP out last year, I caught 10 in about an hour yesterday and another 11 in 40 minutes this morning cry So I've come to the realization I will not be able to irradicate my BOW of these without electroshocking, but can at least have fun trying and enjoy some good eats grin Total caught yesterday was 18 BCP & 9 LMB in just a few hours.

Which leads to the tasty (Crappie fish and chips):

I appear to have a good batch of BG YOY from last year's spawn so I think the forage base is doing well, I just have to hope that the BCP spawn gets wiped out from the LMB and HSB.

My water clarity is about 28", clearer than it's ever been, very little FA, and with the greenish color I'm guessing a good plankton bloom.

So for what little I know, things seem "so far so good" at Croakers Creek cool (except for the Crappie)

Just concentrate on catching the Crappies. They will be in spawning mode soon, so try and get as many out as you can before that.

All over that one, Esshup! And certainly not encouraging to see them loaded with eggs!

I should probably take some time off work grin

Sweet report!

With the work you're doing, you should see a positive effect on the remaining BCP population. Those two pictured look pretty smallish or stunted; maybe they are just young.

Excerpt from Robert Crais' "The Monkey's Raincoat:"
"She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."

Another 85 BCP to clean from yesterday, along with a few smaller LMB.

The never ending quest! cry

PS - Thanks, Sunil!
