Nate & Bruce put on a great presentation today at Mahoney state park. I learned a lot & wished I'd had all this info before I started my pond project. It was great meeting Bruce & seeing TJ again. Thanks to Purina & Northwest feeds for putting it on.

Great to hear. Quite a downer to be so far on the left coast. Too bad there's no webinar or recorded sessions for us lost souls to watch afterwards.

City pool tournaments this weekend and I couldn't let the team down by not being there, which caused me to miss yet another get together. Quite a downer indeed.

Glad it went well and hopefully we'll get a synopsis of the full day's events.

Nate is a superstar. I can't believe how knowledgeable he's become at such a young age. I was more of an observer. Great job, Nate Herman!! The crowd loved him! smile

Really, a great time and a solid turnout. The reception from local pond owners was great! Most knew about Pond Boss, but those who didn't left knowing they better.

Is this the same Nate that doesn't like to talk in front of a crowd? wink grin I'll bet it was a fantastic event.

I've found if it's something that is your passion sharing it with others becomes no big deal. I also find Power Points make public speaking so much easier!

I admire anyone who can get up in front of a crowd and still be calm, collected, and genuinely engage his/her listeners. I wish I could do that.

Congrats guys, sounds like an awesome time was had by all!

Tony, at my boy's karate school, they have a saying.

"Today, not possible. Tomorrow, possible."

I thought I saw your name on the PB-Con VI speaker roster???

I agree with Cecil - power point (pics ) make the job easier and much better for the audience. A pic is worth 1000 words.

Tony,

I used to be just like you at one time. Trust me it gets much easier if it's something you're familiar with and have a passion for. And like I said and Eric says today's Powerpoints almost do the talking for you.

How would you like to be the lead singer in a garage band and your first gig is warm up for another band in front of 500 people? That's what I did back in 1978 in college. I remember being relieved I'd over memorized the words to the songs as they just came out without thinking.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I'm getting better, it's a slow process though. PondBoss has helped me tremendously in this regard, as when you're attending a PB connect meeting and Bob Lusk suddenly looks your way and asks you to share what you have going on, there's no time to get nervous or plan your escape...you just do it and hope for the best.

And you're both surprised and pleased to learn that while your presentation may have been lacking, at least the world didn't come to an end.... there may yet be hope. blush

Yeah, Lusk put you right out on Front Street at Bruce's house!!

Granted, you'd just come off of Scott's meeting.

He darn sure did!

Tony, for what it's worth, I was impressed with your talk. You had facts, you thoroughly know your fish, and I couldn't hear Otto snoring yet. It may have been uncomfortable, but you did good.

Sprkplug - When you are talking about a passion such as growing big ol' fat HBG or making sweet maple syrup, it is much easier to tell your story.

Yes, Tony was very confident. Might even say a bit cocky too. Not in a bad way, just firm in his experience and how it may conflict with convention. I remember him saying he lets the fish tell him how much they want to eat. Can't really argue with that logic though!

Good subject matter is essential for a good in-person presentation too, and he had it.

And one thing I've noticed: If a speaker or writer does NOT know his topic the listeners and readers pick up it up in a hurry! LOL

The trip to Lincoln and Omaha was great! also stopped in and met up with Shawn Banks in Rockport Missouri and did a presentation in Jessup, Iowa as well. This whole speaking thing is definitely made easier with pictures and power points, but practice is helping too!
