I think I am going to have a bad winter kill. I'm seeing dead frogs but I thought they spent the winter dug into the mud. Any ideas why they died?

Well, maybe that's not a big deal at all. For example, last spring I found hundreds of them dead in the shoreline but fish were OK. Seems like these creatures like to spend winter in shallow water and sometimes it ends like this. I've found frogs in shallow water under various things, for example, under boat.
Sometimes maybe weather change my end with their death. After some warm days they start moving around and sudden freeze can be deadly.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

So maybe those frogs in John's picture are not dead??
Excerpt from Robert Crais' "The Monkey's Raincoat:" "She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."

Maybe! The only way to know for sure is to wait 'till everything melts.
