maybe it would be a lot cheaper if
the trench was already in place

I dunno......the line to our house is buried, and they were going to bury the line to my shop (which was constructed later), but I insisted that they run it overhead.

The guy who came out to look the job over was already pacing off the trenching distance when I walked up. When I started talking going overhead instead, he looked at me kinda' funny.

"Why would you want that?" he wanted to know. "Very simple" was my answer.

When that line runs overhead, I can see it....no guessing about where it is, or waiting for a utility marking service to come out and find it. If it's underground, I pay for the costs of installation....when it's overhead, the company does.

If something happens to that underground line, it's on me to have it repaired....if it's overhead, the company picks up the repair tab, not me.

So I told him: If it's overhead, you guys pay for the installation, and any further maintenance/repair issues, and I never have to worry about driving a posthole down through it...it's 30' in the air and out of my way.

He just grinned, sctatched his head, and said: "I see your point, we'll run it overhead"

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

Well they finished at 5:00 they even got the form boards off and cleaned up, no rain for the next 3 days and only a slim chance for next week. If the weather holds they should have it framed up next week.
Here is the front porch its 8x60 its gonna be nice sitting on the porch watching the pond.

You're going to love that porch! We have one that is 40x8 with a 15 x8 dogleg on the kitchen end. It has a handrail with standard the whole length and people hover around it (mainly because it provides a great place to sit a drink, I think). Separated from that one is a 30x8 on the back of the house that is to double in size this year if all goes well.

Folks tend to love porches. They bring back a buried memory of when people used them for their intended purposes, not just to make an entryway look better. Many of my best childhood memories involve porches, the best of which was when the extended family got together to make/eat ice cream...in hand-turned churns with a kid sitting on the top to weigh it down, with a towel to insulate his/her rear from the cold. The worst memories usually involved the porch as the origin for many a trip to cut my own plum switch. I don't think I was ever abused, but I learned many valuable lessons about errant behavior from parents that really cared. I miss that part of our current society...but that's for another topic some other time.

May just be that it goes as far back as when primitive man sat around fires, I don't know...it just seems like a house is missing something important when there isn't a porch.

Sweet. I think you will like that Porch. Mine is about 56'x 12' on the pond side and gets a lot of use. I kind of wish I would have put more than the two 72" outdoor ceiling fans on it though.

Ok, this may be a rookie question, but what is the pink wood? Some type of treatment? Termite control? Just curious.

Notice it is only the precise cut wall studs. When framing my house in 09 all the precut wall studs came one color to easily designate what lumber it was.

They are called pink wall studs cut to the correct size and ready to go.
When i left they were putting up the ceiling joist and framing up the front porch. They should have the roof done tomorrow and have it all sheeted by Friday afternoon.

I went to check on the house at 10:30 and they had the ceiling joist done and had the walls sheeted already and had a good start on the roof they are knocking it out quick.

Wicked...that's great you have a "wall of windows" towards the lake. I can't tell you how many people I've seen that build a lakehouse/home and basically forget about the "wall of windows" facing the lake. I mean "hello"? Especially like down in Texas or the South I've seen people put a great big fireplace on the lake side that blocks much of their view. So they basically trade 24/7 beautiful view of the lake for a fireplace they maybe use 10 times year. 2EachHisOwn....

I know we enjoy the 6'x 6' windows in the Master bedroom & Den over looking the pond. I also have Metal / glass 72" French doors with the double platted glass with blinds inside. I can open the blinds and look thru the doors as well. from the Den. Nothing like having a view from comfort to look from. I also like that you elevated the house several feet which makes the view much better. I built into a hill side where I am elevated about 50' up and just about 120' from the porch to the water. The hill out front is a 2 to 1 drop to the water. I hope you get as much enjoyment from your home as we do.
