I will try to post a pic to help explain my situation here. The pond is 1/3 acre and in a very high water table area with a soft ground.
Due to this, although it is 14' deep in the centre there is a gradual rise so that about 10' from the pond edge it is still only about 3' deep during high water times.

I plan to plant grass and lupins asap to stabilize the perimeter, and some trees around the pond for future shade.
How do you deal with deciduous trees at a pond where leaves can't be removed? I'm imagining willows and larches here.

And possibly even more importantly, with such a gradual slope in- are there certain plants that I could get in now that will help prevent more invasive plants (probably marginals) from taking over the shallow water areas? I imagine bullrushes will come in and it would be nice to not have them take over. Water lillies will be banned from this pond.
Thanks.

Dennis, beautiful country side!

Here's a recent discussion regarding vegetation. It includes links to other discussions, that includes links to other discussions.
