This is what has replaced my WM and DW. Is it Alge of some sort? It has lots of bubbles trapped in it and covers most of the pond.
And how should I treat it? Thanks!
And another picture
Thanks again for Looking \:D

after doing some reading and looking around I am thinking that it might be plankton algae? Would anybody else agree? This morning after a little rain we had last night it is completely gone.

Yuck, Looks like the start of some filamentous algae. I am suffering from the same blight.

I have seen something very similar up here. If it is grey color, then chances are it is caused by pollen from nearby trees. The bubbles or froth might be protein related....
If it is green and comes from the bottom, rises to surface, it is algae.
Is the date correct on your pics? if yes, can you explain how it disapeared?

We get rid of that simply with bacteria treatment. The green stuff becomes fish food!!

Those pictures were taken after I had cleared my pond of WM and DW last year and right after the pond cleared I started get the slime on the surface, I had to treat it with cutrine plus once a month and I will probably have to do like wise this year. The scum would disapear after a rain last year, but this year it actually is sticking around in thicker mats which makes me think that it is FA. I have actually just ordered bacteria to try this year in my pond and should be receiving this week sometime. Very pricy stuff but if it is enough to treat my pond for this year and works then I will be ahead. I have a terrible time with leaves from the nearby trees but I do have several more markd for removal for this year

I have the same problem this year. It started with duck weed and now lots of filamentous algae. The problem is caused by the nutrients from last fall's leaves along with plenty of sunlight. I am going to put some aquashade in the pond to cut back on the amount of sunlight. If the problem continues, I may have to remove the leaves from the pond.

I will also be adding some water lilys to help cut back on the sun and some Louisiana Iris's on the end near the leaf source to help block the leaves from entering the pond. In the meantime, I remove the algae mats once they grow large enough to clump.

Still, the pond surface looks just like your picture after a couple of days. Rain helps temporarily. Good luck.
