Anyone know of a decent underwater camera or video recorder than functions like a trail cam; actuated by motion? Thought it would be nice to watch activity in pond and see how the fish are doing. Thanks

Somebody could get rich on that one. Do they make a GO Pro with motion sensor?

Doesn't really "function like a trail cam"
but might be cool to mount on a dock:

Interested in answers. I have an underwater unit (Aqua-View) but am not aware of one that is motion activated. I have not looked though.

Ideally, an IP camera with constant feed to a server would be ideal. With the right software you can record nonstop get it to detect motion and highlight it for you. Not cheap, but would be cool and could be shared/streamed as a live view. Just need an underwater camera enclosure and cabling.

Alternatively, if you feed your fish or want to do some exploring then the Aqua Vu would be good. Keep in mind if you do a fertilization program and secchi disk you'll soon realize that the viewing distance is not too great.

I'd like to do this at some point. My trophy yellow perch and bluegill pond is gin clear and will be through the winter. My trout pond has some color to it due to iron but once I shut down the well in late fall the water will also become gin clear.

The site of a few hundred 13 1/2 to 14 1/2 inch yellow perch and over 150 bluegills over a pound swimming around in gin clear water would be interesting to say the least.

And the trout pond has about 120 15 inch male brook trout in a 1/10th acre pond. Next year they will be 20 inches plus and 4 to 6 pounds.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Motion detection under water does not go far enough to be useful. Instead you have to rely on video motion detection, which is not energy efficient.
I am thinking of doing the same, but most cameras I have looked at cannot be used long term. The fish cams are only standard def, and I want something better. This means devising a underwater sealed housing, and running wires up for continuous streaming feeds.

I just spent a bunch of money trying to address my leaking pond, so that budget is gone.
