Hey guys I have had tilapia in my pond for several years and never caught one on hook and line. I am determined to harvest some of eating size before they die off. By any means really, but I would like to catch some for the sport of it.

My pond is large with lots of shallow area covered in FA. It is very easy to see schools of tilapia in the 4inch or smaller range around the edge of the pond. It is less often that I can see an eating size fish.

I would be willing to try any method. I have read about canned corn, stuby steve, worms, lettuce, etc. being used, but would like to hear more. Also specifics about hook size, line size, presentation, water temp, location in pond etc.

Also I do not feed on my pond or would try using some AM500.

My cousins in Florida chum an area for a few days with canned peas. Then use the same peas on a size 10 salmon egg hook, no weight. Seems to work well for wild tilapia in open waters.
