Nothing is as effective as an installed skimmer, but this works well if you have a pond where the water level fluctuates.

Cute, but probably not very effective. I disagree. It could work in a small pond like my trout pond connected to the overflow. However unless the expandable foam is different than what I used on the inside of an rbc, it will absorb water over time. Or was the black paint some kind of sealer?

Yes, the idea with the paint is to seal out the water. Should do the trick, but I'll keep an eye on it. In any case, there are other ways to fix if it become an issue. Thanks for the input.
