I've found some plants available thanks to Fireishot! I have a few questions as usual. The guy hasn't seen my pond, we're just going off of my description. He's suggesting any combination of: american pondweed, water willow, squarestem spikerush and maybe water potato. He seems to be pretty honest from just talking with him on the phone but I'm really looking for a second opinion. I'm mainly looking for erosion control and a buffer for the waves hitting the bank to hopefully help in clearing up the water. The plant guy is telling me to plant these approx 2' apart. Here's a pic of the pond a few months ago when it was about 2 1/2' low. The north end is where the runoff comes in and has a shallow bottom. The south end has a pretty steep bank.
Thank you in advance!!

1 more question, how much shoreline should I try to plant/cover? I'm thinking mainly the north and south end due to the waves.

Cisco, Cattails do a good job of keeping shoreline erosion down to a minimum. wink grin

But then you'd have worse problems.........

Also look into Arrowhead.

Which way do the prevailing winds come from?

The wind will either be from the due north or due south depending on the time of year but rarely from the east or west. The pond is sheltered more from the east and west.

Then you got it right, covering both the North and South Shorelines.

In a couple of ponds up here where seeds were scattered and small plants were transplanted (10-15 feet apart for the plants) it took 3-4 years to get them to grow together. I don't know how quick it will be for you down there.

Thanks Esshup. I'll get more info from him when I go get the plants tomorrow. I just don't want to overdo it and spend years of trying to fix it like some others here. I should have done this a few years back when we dug out the pond but it filled up 2 weeks later. Never too late though right?
