i have a pond that is 3-4' near the edges and almost 8' in the center. where should i place a minnow trap?

I place mine close to weed structure and in 18"s of water at most.

Near the minnows? wink

Depending on what you're trying to catch will vary where it goes...if I'm trying to get small fry then closer to shallow cover the better.

If predators are present, then set the trap in shallower water. Small fish prefer shallow water as safer places to frequent and feed. Predators are in the deeper water pushing small fish shallow. Normally set the traps parallel to shore in the travel zone of small fish.
