Wondering about our first 24 hour run of the aeration system. This morning we woke up to see some foam on the pond by the water fall. We did get a huge 1.5"-2" rain fall last night too. The hydro trench runs down hill to the pond and could have ran water last night into the pond.
The pond seems a bit cloudy or turbid. Just guessing that its the proteins in the water that washed into the pond over night. Should I check the PH? Should I worry or just roll with it?
Does your pond have fish in it? Did you follow a start up procedure? Or did you just turn on your air and start running it?
If your pond has never had air before there is a way to start things slowly, unless you have no fish right now then its not a big deal. After 2 inches of rain a bit cloudy I would think be normal. Is your air station up off the bottom of your pond some? Most folks set their station on a tire or a crate of some sort to keep it right off the bottom cause it could be sitrring things up as well if its sitting to close to the bottom of your pond?

The only difference between a rut and a Grave is the depth. So get up get out of that rut and get moving!! Time to work!!
Hi Don ~ The foam is from excess protein getting churned up where the water fall hits the water ~ it will dissipate and will not cause any problems. There are "de-foam" products you can add. As for your first 24 hours running the aeration system, hopefully you worked your way to 24 hours as to not mix your water to quickly...
Yes start up was 1 hour then two then 4 then 8 then 12 then 24. Just up each day and we do have 700 perch in the pond and 10,000 minnows less what the perch have eaten.
The foam has gone away in a few hours after I cranked up the second pump on the falls.
The air station is off the bottom as much as in the picture.
One question can you ever have to much air? All the plants and weeds around the pond have bubbles on them.
Minnows are very active and eating. Perch on the other hand I can never tell if they are on the pellets as 50% sink and 50% float. The perch we catch with minnows as bait are supper fat and there is a few that are not picking off the minnows that are slower but have good colour when caught on a worm. I think they are eating.
