Ok so I have my aeration system rocking out in my pond. After taking in all the reading and advice from everyone on here I feel things are going in the right direction. I would like to be enlightened a little bit more as to my climate and what to expect out of my system.
Attached is a picture of the build of my pond. We have a depth of 14 feet on one end and 12 on the other with that ridge passing through the middle. As per suggestions is have placed two air stations in each deep ends. Started them up as per suggestions doubling time run till at 24 hours.
We are up to 24 hour run time now what can I expect to see our water to do?
We can get 6-12 inches of ice in the winter. I was going to place two air stations on the ridge for the winter. Run these in the fall through the winter then switch to the two deeper ones in the spring for the summer.
Question two will I run into problems running the two on the shallow ridge pulling water up from the deep?
Any other suggestions any one would like to add please do. I feel other peoples experience is truly invaluable to a rookie like me.
Those tiles in the bottom are 36" concrete tiles and I tire off the combine.
For winter aeration, the diffuser(s) should be in water that is 1/4 to 1/3 the maximum depth. After almost losing both dogs in the open water in the center of the pond, I moved my one winter diffuser to an area where it stays thawed all the way to shore, so if something goes in the water it can get back out without having to climb up on the ice.
I put a single Vertex Membrane diffuser on a self-sink air line, and tied it to an anchor with 1/4" nylon rope. The diffuser is in 10' of water, but I have 5' of rope on it. When it's running, it floats up off the bottom so it is at the 5' deep mark. When I shut it off for the summer, it sinks down to the bottom and is not in the way for fishing. I also have it in that particular area so it keeps the water open in front of the feeder. I feed my trout all winter long.
