Any one know where in the central IL or IN area that they can be purchased vs just pulling the typical internet purchase?..

My wife is doing everything she can to talk me into putting frilly dilly girly plants in the pond...I have no problem with hardy lillie and some marginals...I understand they will help with the nutrient overload and aesthetics...

My brother has made some suggestion, but his experience is with smaller Koi ponds...He really thinks I need to put in some Hyacinth...Still not sure I want that much maintaniance...

Also, any suggestions on what to put in and what NOT to put in would be great? (hyacinth)... What will and won't work with chemicals, such as Cutrine?..

In IL, I do not think hyacinths will survive the winter.

That is one of the reasons my brother suggested them...The are very invasive, but per him are easy to control..He said if you dont like them just manually remove or wait til first frost because they will die..

I still am not sure on them because I don't know how fast it will spread...I guess since I live right on the pond manual removal can't be that hard since it is a free floater..

He also suggest tropical lillies for the same reason, no way they will winter up here...The biggest thing is manual removal because the dead plant will leave excess nutient if not manually removed..

Tropical lilies in pots can be taken indoors for the winter and replaced each spring. I like the hardy ones.
