I follow morels.com and morelmushroomhuntingclub.com they are usually pretty good forums for local find rates.. I'm gonna go here in a week or so little early here I think..
I believe in catch and release. I catch then release to the grease..
Tony, those are greys - the first morels to emerge annually, and they are typically pretty small. I'll be very interested to hear how much they grew in a day or two - will you please tell us what you find out? I've picked greys as small at 1.5" before because I thought they were maxed out and starting to dry/crumble. Let us know - and congrats on the find! Should be soon here - amazing, last year the season was already over by this time of the year - this year should be much later than normal.
BGK please let me know when you start seeing them, you're probably 7-10 days ahead of me. We have the moisture, but it's been a very chilly March and April thus far, so we need to string 2-3 days of sun and 60-70s to get them popping.

TJ, I picked those mushrooms last night. The ones I initially posted about had grown about another 1/2". Picked 12 total.
Still no blacks, which are usually the first ones I find.....looks like another sub-par season for us here.

I'm in Clay County, and we picked our first yesterday--greys. My woods mostly has yellows. However, we lost our best spot to the pond. Two years ago, we found 6 1/2 lbs in a half hour there. Killed me to clear it, but the pond provides enjoyment year round. We're also finally beginning to pick a few pounds of asparagus.
Turkey season starts on Wednesday, usually when I find most in South west Wisconsin. Forcast calling for the long overdue warm up. Finders crossed, wild turkey and morels for dinner I hope later in the week!!!!

Just happened across this one while feeding the fish tonight...took a couple quick photos because it was by one of the ponds....I'll look a little harder this weekend!

Good luck!! I am about an hour and half south of there by Platteville. I will be heading out later today and tomorrow am for turks. I hope they are responding to the call better than they were for the first two seasons.
It's on in NE after this weekend. Will head out every day for at least a couple hours for the next ten days. Will report back...please keep the reports flowing boys!
