I have a new pond as of last fall. Now that it's spring, I'm seeing what looks like thousands of tadpoles. I'm afraid that that will mean thousands of frogs later on. Is that true? What is the best way to control tadpoles / frogs?

thanks,
Bob

Frogs (and Toads) are a very important part of the aquatic environment. If you have amphibians it is a good indication that the water quality is good.

Largemouth bass and Great Blue Herons love to control frogs and tadpoles.

I'm with Instar. It's not a problem unless you're a commercial fish producer.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

I doubt you'll see 1 out of every 50 tadpoles by the time they turn into adults.

Unfortunately the "Bull Frog Tadpoles Taste Bad Theory" experiment was a complete disaster. I don't want to name any names but lets just say that two members let's call them Smaha and Ohorty (for reference purposes only) really FUBAR'd this experiment. Not SNAFU, not TARFU, this experiment went full red-line FUBAR almost from the get go.

Thank you, and I appreciate the consideration.

I stopped in occasionally for a quick look and it appeared as though things civil here on the forums with regard to my beloved GSF.

Yolk appeared to be able to contain his irrational hatred for the most magnificent of sunfish for a couple of months so that is all good.

Yep hopefully the 2nd or 3rd week of May. I have been in contact with DIED and unfortunately the water level in Northern California (like in parts of Texas) is dismal. DIED's pond is already down a foot and normally during this time of the year the spillway is running consistently.

I'm hoping our pond isn't too low. Jeffhasamudpit just doesn't have the same ring to it.
