I have recently got a 40'x20'x7ft deep pond. It is now 2 ft deep and I want to start stocking fish. I would like LMB, chain pickerel and fathead minnows. Will the bass and pickerel live together well or what? The fatheads are for food and I could get crayfish if necessary. Please assist me in buying fish. Thanks

you need to pick a forage fish, like Yellow Perch or pumpkinseed sunfish. then add a predetor. unless you want to hand feed them all the time.

can pickeral and bass live together? Yes but: If the Pickerel are much smaller than the bass (length wise) the LMB might try to eat them. Typically a LMB likes to eat fish that are 1/4 to 1/3 it's size. BUT, the more fusiform the fish, the longer a fish that the LMB can eat.

Yes, pickerel and LMB can live together... However, in most cases LMB tend to out compete pickerel.
Where do you plan to source your pickerel? As far as I know, there are no commercial sources for them?
A pond your size is generally not a suitable to size to produce a quality LMB fishery... What would you like to see out of your pond? we may be able to recommend a species combination that is suitable for your goals and the size pond you have.
