Some things to think about:

What types of fish do you like to catch and eat?

What are your goals for the pond? (short and long term)

What will the pond be used for?

What is your vision for the pond 5 years down the road?

How much time do you want to spend maintaining/managing the fish in your pond?

Those are some things to think about to give us a better understanding of what direction to guide you.

My ultimate goal is to have a place where the kids and Grandkids can fish when they come see us. I was thinking Bass, Catfish, and Brim. I am willing to do whatever I need to maintain the fish/pond. I just want a nice place that is clean and the family can enjoy catching some fish. We don't eat alot of fish but would probably eat the catfish when they were large enough.

Size of the pond is a big consideration on what kind of fish. W#here is it?

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

At 1/4 acre I wouldn't stock either bass or bluegills. They are both spawning machines and can quickly over populate. The next step after that is generally a die off due to an oxygen crash.

I would probably stock 100 hybrid bluegills and about 20 channel cats. Feed them with Purina Game Fish Chow. Both are inexpensive to buy and stock plus all kids, including me, love to watch the fish feed. Either catch and release or keep them for the table.
