Thru a mutal friend I met a guy this weekend who lives close to my place. He has a couple of smaller shallow ponds (3' or less) that he is going to let me raise minnows in. He tells me that one of the ponds (1/4 acre) is full of goldfish. I was wondering if anbody here has trapped goldfish and what kind of set up they used.

mn, I've used the little black < > shaped ones you find at WM. Cost about $8. I think this trap would hold about 50 1" goldfish. On a larger scale, Cody or some of the other experts can help you with that...
Just do it...

These things work pretty well. If that pond is really full with fish then trap can work even without any bait. Sure, bait can always significantly improve results. Use any bait that's available - bread, corn, wheat - whatever.

A client has some in his HOA pond. I've used the Fyke net to trap them, and also caught them by getting them used to feeding on AM600 pellets. Then using Stubby Steves. But, if you are going to use it for a forage pond, and don't want to risk introducing them into whatever BOW you are going to put the forage fish in, I'd rotenone it, twice, and start with a clean slate.

Thanks guys. Looks like they are very similar to other minnows that I trap. We had some smoothies and bs'ed around the campfire this weekend which usually leads to ideas. Not always good ones but ideas non the less
