With so many Pond Boss friends in the the broad area of "Storm Q" I'm surprised we haven't heard much from any of you.
You guys snowed in? Maybe you are just hunkering down.
I'm anxious to get the chains and the snow plow off my UTV and tractor. But y'all just keep sending us threats. I really want to replace the tractor snow plow with the garden plow.
Still darn cold here with flurries nearly every day. I think we'll have a high of 24 today -- but at least it is sunny. I've been thinking about adding vodka to the chicken's watering cans to keep the water from freezing, and to keep the chickens from getting winter Seasonal Affective Disorder.
I put a bunch of bluegill and crappie, and even a couple of LMB, into a cage at the end of the dock last fall in hopes we could have a mid-winter neighborhood fish fry on the day that the ice thawed. At this point, I guess its going to be a spring fish fry -- if anything survived.

In the middle of it right now. Nothing we haven't seen before, but people are still overreacting here.

I'm up at school in Lincoln, Nebraska. Classes are canceled for the day. The storm started a couple of hours ago and we are expecting around a foot of powder.

We had a mixture of everything in Central Oklahoma. It started off as snow which not stick to the roadways. That totaled about 1" of snow and then shortly after that we had a rain which melted all of the snow. Then last night we got snow/sleet/thunderstorms all in one night. Overall the total rainfall came to 0.7" which is good. It was just slightly too warm here for much to add up. But in northern Oklahoma, there was 10" of snow and it is currently still snowing up there. I know Kansas and Missouri are getting hammered today.

we're in the thick now in st louis. It sleeted for about 2 hours, then starting at 11 am it began to snow. Looks like in 3 hours, we've gotten about 4.5 inches.
freezing rain mixes in too, its really pretty, but im not about to drive down the bluffs to get the best pics.

We were anticipating up to 12" today, dry air kept totals down around 5" in Lincoln. Pushed it all with a shovel, kept the blower in the shed. Kids got the day off, but I didn't. Some places in South Central NE and North Central KS received 14-16" - probably a record for them.

I don't think we would notice a storm up here. The lake hasn't taken much of a break lately. (lake effect snow from Lake Michigan) Snow plow guys are making a few bucks this year.

My kid knew I was getting up early to shovel. Woke up 15 minutes before I did to help. Said he covered his alarm clock so it wouldn't wake us up.

Just another normal winter here, over 4 ft. on the ground, some from storms but most from lake effect.

looks like St Louis didnt get it as badly as anticipated. My house, about an hour north, got somewhere between 6-8 inches of actual snowfall, plus a healthy amount of sleet and a good 1/4" of freezing drizzle.
St Louis proper got about 4 inches of snow, but mainly sleet and freezing rain.
Typical st louis drivers cannot handle the thought of snow, and then the ones who get cocky try to make it in the freezing rain, and screw up traffic for everyone. But that is really the worst of what happened.

Jim Cantore with the Weather Channel was here in Lincoln yesterday broadcasting from "Q" street in downtown Lincoln. I am sure he would liked to have seen more snow fall.

I've heard there are people that get mad at him in hurricanes affected areas. They say when he shows up things get really bad. Probably the same people that think the weatherman makes the weather. LOL

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

My kids are off school again today. Makes working from home office a tad more challenging than usual. I think we netted 6" here max...can't believe they called school today. Now officially out of snow days!

Now officially out of snow days! We got at least 8" an hour east of you. We shoveled about 6" at 7pm last night, then first thing this morning shoveled off another 4" or so that accumulated overnight. I'm guessing it drifted a little more in our driveway than everywhere else like usual.

Man with horse head disrupts Weather Channel shoot in Lincoln While Cantore did a live report Thursday afternoon amid the wind-whipped snow at 10th and Q Streets in Lincoln, a man wearing a costume horse head walked into the background of the shot, waving and posing.
It elicited laughter from about 20 people who had gathered to watch the weather celebrity at work.

We are preparing for round 2 here in Oklahoma. This storm is supposed to be stronger than the last one. Snow packed areas are predicted to get 12-18" of blowing snows with winds out of the NW at 35-45 mph. Other areas are going to get 5-12" of blowing. It should be interesting.
The panhandle of Texas could get up to 36".

Not too long ago, the panhandle of TX had more snow on the ground than the entire lower peninsula of MI.
We've been getting dumped on lately due to lake effect snow. Pretty decent and sunny day today. A few more weeks to go and the snow will be gone.
