on the 8th of this month we put in 5 large brookies and ive noticed the pond isn't as clear as usual will the trout stir the bottom of the pond also i didn't realize how many fish survived the summer yesterday i threw in some bread and had 12 bg feeding 5 lmb 8 yellow perch 3 rock bass should i take them out of there just incase the water warms up to much this summer and i can't aerate will they use that much oxygen. the water is realativeley clear i can see bottom but barely how much muddy water can trout take i heard 36 in of clarity but im not sure. thanks.

Sp, your pipe should put more oxygen in your pond.I don't know anything about aeration(the story of my life). I assume you put the other fish in there without any cost. If I were you I might take everything out except the trout. That way you know you gave them your undivided attention. Speaking from one mountain person to another, Son dem fish ain't rock bass, dem be red eyes. Always hoping the best for you.

I don't think 5 large brook trout would stir the bottom of your pond up enough to really notice any difference. So I believe there is something else causing this...

How large is this pond and what have you already stocked it with? What are your eventual goals for the pond?

CJB- his pond is only 4' deep. So considering this, I would think that they could be stirring things up. Normally they wouldn't, but their room is limited. Just my guess anyway.

They could be chasing around your smaller trout.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

ok guys just got up to the house i was neting some fish up and getting them out not the trout though. and i gues was throughing in bg and others all summer while i was building the pond and i didn't realize how many i put in. today i caught 20 more fish and im kind of wories cause they were small so im guesing that when i diverted the water this summer they spawned. and im not able to get the perch without catching trout. so im thinking i can siphon the water low enough to do this but im also woried about the trout making the pond realy muddy when the water gets low will this happen also does anybody else think the fish spawned.

SMPD, if they are small your hog trout will probably have them for snacks. Good luck!

i have seen the trout eating the small fish but my real problem is the perch they're smart as soon as the net hits the water they disapear and i know they spawned for sure the ones that lived are now 5 in. and my biggest perch is 11 in so the old big ones couldn't be eaten probably even from cecils monsters. so i gues my question is shoulld i drain the pond low or shouldn't i. confused

SMPD, can you set up a fish trap? They may go in it, if that doesn't work maybe you can catch them with hook and line. Good luck.

The fish that are the hardest to catch always taste the best.
