Thanks guys, again, only a couple of the 20 SMB I've caught this Winter had those small spots - maybe 2mm diamter, they almost looked like freckles - not raised or inflamed or anything that APPEARS harmful. Thanks for your reassurance Sunil, Scott and Cecil...you know how I feel about my SMB babies. I feel a sense of relief, but will keep you posted via photos on other fish and if it's increasing in frequency, etc.

Check out this ice we were fishing on yesterday. 12" so no problem, but sure looks sketchy.

Never seen that before, floating ice that refroze. Pretty cool. Mine was 6" honeycombed and melting fast - probably 3" when we left around 5. Even I would not venture out again after rain and 40s yesterday and another warm day today.

260 acre lake near Prague, NE. Was only on a small section of the lake. The rest was pretty clear.

That lake has a real 'head cheese' look to it.

Excerpt from Robert Crais' "The Monkey's Raincoat:"
"She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."

Sunil -- you are absolutely right! If just a few pieces were a little pink and dark red, mixed with those white pieces, it would look exactly like headcheese.

Yeesh! Now I gotta go get a block of headcheese out of the freezer to thaw for tomorrow! (I put four good size chunks in the freezer just after Christmas. I wasn't sure when I'd again find a good head to work with.)

Wanna come down for a visit? No fishin' -- just lots of ice on the ponds. But, lots of good eatn'.

Ymmm!

Reminds me of jello in a way.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Crazy day....skim ice on the ponds this morning, 63 degrees this afternoon, frogs hollering this evening.

Caught this guy before work. 10-1/4" x 21 ozs.

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

His little tail is so cute.

Great one Sprk. What people wouldn't give to get out and wrestle one of those before work. You're a lucky man.

Ken, what is the word that native W.Va. people call head cheese. In my growing up in Ky.,it was called souse. My parents loved it but none of their 8 children liked it and we went to bed hungry many times. I never heard of head cheese till I moved to the flat lands.

FULL DISCLOSURE:
Today was a bust at Lake Fork. When 4 foot waves are filling up a 21' Ranger, it's time to get off the water and reload for another day.

My trophy of the day, a great slice of Coconut Pie. Apparently I misread the January fishing manual.

That is a serious piece of coconut cream pie. Now start on the treadmill.

I got rid of mine. It was kinda old but was still low mileage.

For most of us, it's a word we can't use on this forum! grin

No pig head boiling for you Todd? We ate the whole hog except for intestines, which many people around this area love.

Actually experienced some of Catmandoo's head cheese with Sunil and Rainman a couple of years ago. We were surprised that it actually pretty good. Definitely not what we had expected!

Here is Sunil seeing how much he could eat without using his hands. He gave it a game effort!
