finally got permanent electrical near pond. back in 2000 i installed a new well for domestic use, the spot was 800 feet from house. we ran a 3-wire direct burial aluminum from house panel all the way to the new well house (shared trench with water line). there is no loss in this line over the 800 feet........70 amp feed, 70 amps at well house. we had about 200 feet leftover so with a little foresight (this was before pond renovation), we ran the extra (underground) from the well house to near the pond and stubbed it off in the ground. there it sat until this weekend. i sunk a 4x6 pressure treated and then my good neighbor helped me mount up the hardware and make the connections. i now have two 20 amp feeds, one for the aeration system and extra gfi plugs, the other to run a future line right down to pond to feed possible bug zapper, deck lights, etc. i included a couple pics of the system running. its a vertex 2XL i bought from Sue last year. if my neighbors calcs are correct, running the system for 8 hours each night, monthly electrical usage should range from $14 to $20 depending on what baseline threshold we exceed for total usage.....anywhere from 12 to 17 cents per kwh. figured conservatively at 120 volts, draw 4.5 amps = 540 watts per hour...or about 6 to 9 cents an hour.

Hardware mounted on marble slab, no less. Sooo trendy. You gotcha some major bubbles going there. That is a nice looking watertight, ventilated box for the aeration system.

b'ski, i jump for my greenies. man they crack the whip on a daily basis. first cabin Sue. TG, yer place looks much homier than mine. i have nothing but praise for the creativeness of folks on this site.....that's either an air filter or really cool horn great paint job, and nice touch w/ the christmas light. my neighbor is one of these guys who is a consummate pro in just about every fashion of construction...trust me, the rig wouldnt look anything like that if i'd done it all myself. one of the things we need to be really really careful of here is fire......remote electrical needs to be tight, hence the heavy duty set up. burger, the system is mounted on a plastic tray (comes that way from vertex). i snagged those underlying (concrete) slabs off a drill job. my wife always rolls her eyes at the crap i bring home, and my answer is always the same....you never know when you'll need it...i think it looks pretty sharp too p.s. jeff, my neighbor referred to here is the one and the same crazy (S.F. Italian) fella that lives above us.....
