The water in Zephyr Pond is kind of tea or coffee colored. It is clear and not really cloudy. I figure a lot of it is from tannin since all the rain and now water is up around trees. Anyway I started my areation in hopes of turning water somewhat green. Does anyone have any experience or advice.
In Dog Beers, I've had one.

I have a somewhat similar situation in northern WI with the water being stained a dark tea color but it isn't cloudy. It stays like that year round. Theo informed me it possibly could be from tannins that come from pine needles which is very likely in this particular pond. Could spring runoff be contributing to your stained water?
my post he wrote on is under spillway in the questions and observations forum. good luck

Yes - what is the alkalinity? It will be low if tannic acid is high. If so add ag lime. Get the water tested. If low alkalinity then you can't achieve and keep a green plankton bloom.
