Great report!

I can't recall...what was the biggest WE you caught in your pond? I never got one more that 15/16" tops, and it was not fat, from my pond.

Summer of 2011 a friend bucket stocked three dink WE - approx 13" - believe he caught from area BOW. I knew it wouldn't do any harm, but I never thought I'd see them again, either. I caught one of the three in mid June estimated mid 3# range and just under 22":

She was pretty fat this late in the season - and SE Nebraska WE spawned super early last year - in late February - due to the record setting heat from January onward. I don't want to believe that's a gravid female 4 months after the spawn - rather she simply figured out how to leverage BG and GSH at the feeder...to further justify my hopes she was caught on the break into 16' depth right in front of the feeder. So, that's the largest thus far - and I don't anticipate my stocked fish from last year to ever attain that size. I stocked 100 Fall 2011 and I'd be happy with 15-18" fish. I think I'll continue supplemental WE stocking every other year so I have fillets for the family. We love WE, followed closely by YP. Gotta tell you, I never would have believed a fishery in Southeast NE could ever feature these species. Testament to Pond Boss forum expertise - as I've said many, many times.

Good job, Chris! Whomever manages that fishery must subscribe to Pond Boss.

Did any mods go for a zipline ride? Where are the photos?

Ok, I remember you posting that crazy sized WE before. I hope you've got a few more of 'em. Might need to eat one up!

so, ice fishing pro tip...when on a 6 hour dive north, at 8pm in springfield, IL, dont run over the crap that the garbage truck ahead of you just dropped. you will blow out a tire, and destroy your lower control arm.

all auto shops in springfield close at 8, so nobody can make your trip a reality.

at least i was only an hour from home. limped back using the donut on the frontage road. packed the ice gear back into the garage. ....perhaps i'll get to go second week of february..wish me luck, guys.

We're lucky to have the ice.

We're getting it now! Single digit lows and wind! Not much snow accumulation, but the wind is making for poor visibilities with the really fine snow. A couple weeks of this, and we'll have some ice.

The 3/4 acre pond behind my apt. is starting to freeze after a couple days of this. Ground is still too warm, and tiled runoff is keeping it open.

February is usually our coldest and nastiest month around here. See what happens.

Why would a guy like george lucas, with the budget he had, allow something like that into his finale? Oh yeah, because he was gonna sell the company to disney for gazillions.

since then on, whenever anything turns comically bad, i turn to the NOOOOOOOOOO website. It makes me feel better to know that someone else has worse judgement than I do.

However, i dont have gazillions, so maybe i shouldn't judge.

I just spent the last 2 days fishing with Doug Stange and we were able to film 2 very awesome shows for InFisherman TV!!! They will air late this year in Nov/December so be on the lookout!

Here are some pics:

You will have to watch the show to see the fish that we caught that were used for the show!!! We had to release them on film so we werent able to get pics of them!!!! Was a very very cool experience and we were able to talk alot about pond management for one of the shows!...I think Doug's eyes were opened to a whole new world of fisheries- PONDS.... it was his first time filming in Illinois!

So cool Nate! Can't wait to watch! How's the grey suit work for you? I had mine for a recent trip to the heart of Minnesota and couldn't have been more comfortable.

Hey Nate - great job my friend!
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!
It was 78 degrees here yesterday!

I'm bustin' my suspenders - I now have two good friends that fish with Doug Stainge - my buddy Steve Alexander hosted Doug for a TV show recently - no hard water tho grin

Loc: NE Texas
Chief Editor Doug Stange and I fished together in early March of last year at one of our lakes north of Sulphur Springs. The show airs this week on the Outdoor Channel; which is channel 605 on Direct TV. The title is In Fisherman and the description is Winter Tactics. We are the middle segment of the show. We caught several fish and a couple of big fish; and one on camera. I wish I could tell you when it airs next, but if you DVR the series it will pop up.

Al, tape that show for me this week - I don't get that channel - I knew about it but was shot North of Sulphur Springs - must have been our neighbor's lake...

Popped a few quality YP to 12.5" and a bunch of medium BG this afternoon. It was dead calm and sunny, simply couldn't resist the call of the ice. After I punched a few holes and got geared up I was able to kick up my feet and hold a couple conference calls. Best day at work in recent memory...

Conference calls while ice fishing....that's just awesome. The perch look great also, always wanted to catch those through the ice.

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

Another warm Saturday, the ice was pretty sketchy and melting all around us, but the crappie bite was on, and a few more species showed up, tpo.

Popped 20 or so HBC, and I caught my first ever Nebraska Master Angler BC, and first MA of any species from my pond. Most fish ran from 12-14" like these:

And here is the mack daddy!

Caught 5-6 SMB, largest around 16"

3 YP to 12.5"

Also caught 3 WE - all we've caught have been 11" so far. Photo here is the largest of the 2011 stockers caught yet - just over 14" - happy to see!

My goal Saturday was to catch more WE and an MA YP. At least happy to see a larger WE and the MA HBC was a bonus!

Fish on!
