Anyone know of a source for Hybrid Stripers in Central Illinois/St Louis MO area? I'd like to put some in my big pond, just for some variation. The 3 or 4 farms I've called didn't have any and didn't have anyone's number that might.

Most of the HSB come from Ark hatcheries. If you can't find what you need post back.

Check your state regulations to assure that you won't be breaking any laws by bringing them into your area. I'm not sure if Missouri has any particular restrictions.

HSB are legal here in both Missouri and Illinois. They are readily available in many sizes.

Rainman, Just curious what the pricing is on the HSB. If not appropriate here could you PM me some info? Thanks

Rainman if you are shooting down I-44 with some let me know. I live a couple miles off interstate 5 miles south of Rolla. I need 25 or 30 of them.

If you only need 25 - 30 HSB why not locate the nearest fish farm that has what you want and make a trip with your roomie to get them (quality time!). One can easily travel 3-5 hrs one way with fish in boxes and oxygen. I've hauled hundreds of fish at one time this way. Last October I drove 3 hrs oneway to get 80 WE 8"-10" that were packed into 4 boxes with oxygen. They made the trip home very well.

I've thought about that, but wasn't sure they would make the trip.

OK so side topic question based on the original - if I'm adding hybrid stripers to an established pond and I'd like to have a relatively low mortality rate due to LMB eating them...is 6-9 inch big enough? Yes I know it depends on the size of the LMB...the bulk of my population is in the 2-3 LB range. I know I can't stock them big enough (econimically) to prevent predation from the top tier 5 LB and up class...I'm just shooting for a good middle ground.
