I remember our first air conditioner. We suddenly had the best house on the block.
Now I can't set our electronic thermostat without the heater kicking on.

With cable phone service, the party continues Still have it, but it's been unplugged for close to a year. I don't even know what my home phone number is Just part of a bundle package. Who talks on the phone anymore, really! With our high speed lives, maybe that decoder ring in a box of Cracker Jack, way back, would have level out the communications thing

Al, I can beat that. I still remember my Grandfather building the outhouse. In a blizzard 25 miles from Muleshoe, it made a lot of difference.

Dave, how about a WIndows 8 update. I've seen a Microsoft TV ad running for a finger swipe login, and my wife makes me change the channel when it comes on because I go off on my rant.
I can just see some corporate tech support guy trying to help an end user login by following this: "OK, first you go to the kitties head on the left, then swipe down to the ceramic bunny. Then, make a circle around the donuts and put a dot in the middle".
Third party software is already out there; Start8, Classic Shell, etc. that reverts the GUI back to a more classic view.

I've "somewhat" learned to use it but I'm more of a utility user than a techie. The finger on the screen deal that I see on TV doesn't work for me and I'm not sure why I would want it anyway. I heard that it is on select models and maybe I didn't get that type. Another guy told me that I have to have a newer monitor.
My VOIP phone isn't working. The instructions say to start with command prompt. I can't find it and need to call for tech support. I probably will or will keep digging.
All in all, I'm using it but certainly not all of it's capabilities.
When I first got it, I had an internet issue and called Charter. They couldn't help since none of them had seen 8. I had to figure that one out myself.

I hope it get's better for you. New OS's just shouldn't reinvent the wheel, they should just make the wheel easier to turn.
I finally decided to get one of the new 27" iMacs when they're announced Friday. It'll run the Apple OS X, and Windows 7 so I don't have replace all my graphics and development software. Plus, I'll free up a lot of real estate around my desk.

Return it, buy a dell online you can get windows 7 on them. That will work for you much better.
In the IT world all large businesses are skipping Windows 8.

Already have a probook, 21" iMac, and a Mac Pro, and I'm happy with all of them.
Dell's, not so much.

Lordy, I feel like a cave man. I have a five year old computer w/windows seven, cheap cell phone, one land line and some how I still manage all of my e-comm sites. I did treat myself to a nice office over looking my pond. I do look forward to the day when the tech world simplifies all the new gadgets (not holding my breath) if that day comes, I will upgrade.

Don't feel like a caveman! Sometimes you just hit that "right" computer, and there's no reason to change. I've got an old home file server that's been rock solid for over ten years. I never saw a reason to update it.
And I still miss my old Nokia 5190 cell phone. It bounced off every curb in 4 counties, and never dropped a call.
