Seen a hundred or so of theses today in our small pond, Just around the dock. What and the heck are they. Picture taken on I phone sorry for the quality.

That is exactly what they are. Here is a link about them, along with some good photos. There have apparently been a lot of sightings this year. In my 65 years I've seen them only one season.

I saw some in Hunting Run Reservoir in Fredericksburg, Virginia this year. I couldn't believe my eyes!
