Just curious if anyone here has been affected by Issac. Hopefully we can hear of ponds filling or getting topped off after a long drought?

How much rain did you get or are getting?

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

The leading edge of the clouds are just getting over my place right now. Suppose to start raining later this afternoon.

I'm just SouthEast of Lassig and am in the same boat...hoping the rain comes gradually enough but also in enough volume to fill up the ponds...

Overcast and humid. The air feels heavy with moisture....hopefully the clouds will turn loose of it. Radar says it's coming....

YES!!! I am finally getting some rain!! Man did I need it too. They are saying my area should get around 2.5 to 3 inches before it's all done!! I'll take it for sure! I will be going up there tomorrow to see how everything looks. I hope I got enough to make a difference. As of Wednesday i was about 3 feet low! So I'll take anything at this point!

Looks like we got about 6-8 inches which we did not need. Two lakes have water over the top of the water control structures. In one a 48 inch pipe is draining and shooting water out the back. The other is over the top of the 30 inch pipe and the secondary 8 inch pipe is fully running. Does not look like either emergency spillway was activated. Water got up on at least one dock and another feeder platform. Looks like all the feeders escaped going under. As I did not have long to check it is possible the food got wet with the driving rain and wind. One boat was blown over and has water in it and floated over part of the 48 inch pipe. I managed to drag it off with a hoe and rope to clear the pipe. The boat was stopped from covering the pipe (which would have caused a catastrophic dam breach) by the vortex preventer. Glad to have escaped by the skip of the teeth.

No rain yet.... looks like Isaac has gone as far north as they predicted. Question is, will he make that right turn they forecast as well?

Trying to be optimistic, but the pattern so far looks suspiciously like most of the other supposed sure-thing rain events of this summer, at least for my area.... We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Glad to hear it.

Isn't it amazing something that originates a long ways away off the coast of Africa can cause both happiness and grief?

Have faith!

Although there is no rain here it's really humid up here now. I made the mistake of spraying too heavy of a coat of lacquer sealer before painting on a mounted fish (I usually do this outside) and got some serious hazing.

I can also smell the big pond really well this evening for some reason. It has a slight septic smell to it. I hope I don't get any surprises. I have been observing a die off of sago pond weed.

Better get the Kasco ready just in case.....

My allergies are kicking in today (ragweed). That coupled with the humidity here today made life outside miserable.

Looking at the radar right now 4:20am Sat. and it looks like the rain is just entering west central Indiana. I'm in east central IN so I hope it doesn't fizzle out before it gets here.

As usual, we're not in the path.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Cecil, that quote made me remember a great book I read about the 1900 Galveston Hurricane ironically named "Isaac's Storm: A Man, a Time, and the Deadliest Hurricane in History".

The best guesstimate was 2,500 lost, and throughout the book it had snippets about how a hurricane builds from African weather.

3+ inches so far and the pond is only up around a foot. Looks like a lot of it is soaking in. That isn't a bad thing, just wish the pond came up more. I do have a small drainage area of about 12 acres

We are next and I hope a lot soaks in since we have no cover on the soil around our new pond (seed ordered and no rain up till now anyway. If the seed were planted it might just all wash away. We put up some silt fence yesterday on the fill end to hopefully help with the main watershed which is a corn field. The silt pond is not yet built (pictures in another active thread).

Looking at the radar now it seems Issac is still headed North. Just starting to rain here, but it'll be light. I'm expecting less than an inch total for the whole weekend. Currently most of it seems to be in Illinois and Missouri, with a bit in SE Iowa. They're saying 2" to 5" for central Indiana.

I think I will do that although I don't smell anything today. I'm also going to rake out some weeds today if I get some inspiration. wink
