For about a month now I've had some Sago pond weed dying off and floating to the surface in my biggest pond. It's welcome to me as it's been unusually prolific this year, but of course I didn't add any a fluridone product this year either.
I had quite a bit float and drift with the wind to one side of my pier, which is 130 feet long and goes entirely across the pond. I was able to rake it out this way fairly easily.
I've never had it die down this early. Is this typical? Some of it is coated with filamentous algae.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

I'm glad you said something - my Horned and american pondweed also has been dying way ahead of schedule. My pond did drop 4' and I chalked it up to drying out - but even the submerged stuff seems to be dying back and I'm noticing it floating way earlier than normal.

My pond is not down at all. I can keep it at full pool with a well but I have virtually no seepage or much evaporation.
I've got some trees that are already changing colors on some of the leaves due to the stress of the drought. I'm wondering if there could be a link?
