Hello, I have a 1/4 acre pond with WE (maybe), YP, HSB, tons of Spotfin & Bluntnose, Papershell cds and lots of BF Tadpoles. Last week I discovered several yoy Bullheads caught in my fish cage. I'm wondering what fish would be the best predator to get to thin (eliminate would be preferred, but doubtful) them out. BC tells me that WE will consume 200-300 minnows per yr, I know from experience that HSB will eliminate a FH population. As far as I know I presently have near to a dozen HSB and I stocked six 4-5" WE but wonder if they were'nt just a snack for the HSB which are around 18-20"s. I also recently saw a post on how to build a trap but could'nt download. Anyone have plans available for me to view? The BH are about 1-1/4"s. Bob-O

Bob-O, go back to that thread, I posted a link to where the trap plans are on the internet.

Thanks but I don't know where to find that post now. What do you think would be the best predator?

Call them for the modified fyke net. The picture they have on their website is for a round hoop style fyke net.

LMB will suck up little bullheads like they are candy. They would probably be your most effective predator for them.

Flathead catfish will eat the adults, but they will also eat anything else they can catch and fit their mouths around. They are a top of the chain predator.

Bob-O how did you get those bullheads in your pond?. Probably some of your gracious doin-U-a-favor relatives while you were gone.

Hey, thanks for the response and advice. Bill, I think that I got some BH in with my last stocking of FH which was 5-2010. I see a few mature BH when I feed (YP don't self train but trash fish do) and figure they are a couple yrs old. I'll probably put in 4 or 5 mature WE next month and get to trappin asap.
