Numerous members have used the methodology of the R.Scott's pickle barrels. Creative members have used plastic tubing instead of wooden branches. Plastic "stems" do not decompose and snag fewer fish lures. See this link for lots of examples of creative fish structure and background information. http://forums.pondboss.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=92463&page=all

Yes some of us have used them of some type. See the link Bill provided. Lots there including this. typical Ray Scott rendition of a pond with this method (pickle bucket method) and ridges , cuts and standing timber etc.

Travis,
I used them in my new pond. I used 100 lb chlorine buckets instead of 5 gallon buckets. Our local pool store readily gave them away to get rid of them. They are bigger and will accommodate larger limbs etc.. In them I put Bo- dock trees and cedar trees.
