Just wondering if anyone has started feeding around my area? I haven't checked water temperature but I'm sure getting excited about nursing my new babies. I stocked 1" CNBG in November along with RE and FHM. Question: was size pellet would they be ready for come next month?

Forecast temps this week for N.E. Texas are mid to upper 70's. Our feeders were turned on yesterday.

I started our BG's on high protein Purina Aquamax 500 pellets with good sucess, and graduated to a a mix of 500 and 600 for CNBG and HSB.

Good Luck \:\)

I'm headed to the farm this morning and will post an update when I return on Thursday. I stocked with 1-2" RES and CNBG on Sept 20th along with 6-8" CC and hope the CC are big enough to eat this summer. We were fortunate enough to feed off and on until early January and my place is about as far north as yours.

I tossed feed yesterday. I saw 3 BG come up. Of course, 3 days before, it was 9 degrees in the morning.

I just thought to myself, "I bet my bass will come to feed today if the wind doesn't blow it to the side before they have a chance."
The catfish with them always wait a whole lot longer before they come up. In the all catfish pond where they are a lot hungrier, they show up almost a month before the ones with the bass.
So it will depend on how hungry they are.

I threw about 3 handfuls out this evening and had quite a few BG feed. They did have to race it to shore because of the 25 MPH southerly breeze.

My feeder is on for a small cycle. I've been hand feeding and the Catfish have been the only takers.

Fed all three ponds today and the Fatheads went crazy but only saw three CC total take one pellet, water temp was 57 F @ one foot. The way the FH were knocking the Aquamax pellets out of the water you'd think they were playing volleyball. Everything should go nuts when I get back to feed next week.

I fed yesterday and everything was going nuts. Of course, we have had 3 days with beautiful weather that followed some pretty cold stuff.

I have my Grandsons Basketball team fishing this Saturday. A bunch of 8 year olds and their families. Most, including parents, have never been out of the city limits. Sounds like a character builder coming my way.

Thanks, Theo.

I took the Cub Scouts last year. 5 kids each caught a fish. It worked out just right. Total stringer was just short of 40 pounds. The pushbutton Shakespeare reels weren't up to the task. I went out last weekend and bought 4 new ones, somewhat heavier duty. I save the cats for kid fishing and don't care what happens to the gear.

I will also be cooking lots of hotdogs. I have as much or more fun than the kids and I get rid of the overgrown cats.

ManoMan, that was a bust. Forty to fifty mph winds. With 10 people fishing, my Grandson was the only one who hooked a cat. However, it got in the brush and we had to break it off. Of course, with seven 8 year olds, things were pretty active. The biggest attraction for these guys was the ability to relieve themselves outdoors.
