I have 8 grass carp in my dads small 1/2 acre pond that are just tanks they must be pushing 40-50 pounds need to get them out, does anyone have any good way of catching them or traping them? these are very spooky other wise we would get them out with bows, they are just sturring the water up so bad his pond is real murkey/.

I have always had success fishing for carp with dough balls 12" under a bobber (just take some bread and put it in your mouth to soften then form a ball) or several kernals of canned corn under a bobber. Use heavy line and a stout hook!

Grass Carp Bait

As mentioned, use stout braided-line and hooks (maybe even the circle-type) - since you'll only get one chance at each fish.

Grass carp have preferences but when starving, they'll eat most anything...

In my neck-o-the-woods it is customary to shoot the grass carp. Bow and arrow, shotgun, or rifle. I'm pretty sure this comes from the threat of polluting and populating other lakes and streams in the area. A dead fish cannot reproduce and cannot eat small fish habitat in unwanted waters. Populating other waters with grass carp is against the law and will totally ruin the food chain in some cases.

Thanks,

By law, the grass carp sold in indiana can't spawn - they are triplooid.

Doubt the murky water is form only 8 grass carp in a 1/2 acre. There are plenty of clear ponds with 20 or more in hlaf acre. Just letting you know you may have more PI work to figure out the murky water. If common carp different story.
