I need to buy rotenone. The applicators license is no problem. We were told by our local co-op that powder form was not available and they could get it in liquid form 5gal at a time for almost $500. We don't need near that much. We might have 1/2 acres of water maybe 1 ft deep. Pretty good for a 7 acre drain down. Anyone know if it's still sold in the powder form in the bags?
We live in Jay fl. Close Pensacola fl
Thanks for any information.

I don't know about powdered rotenon, but 1 gal containers of liquid rotenon were available last year at some chemical supply stores for around $75. Under the label Prenfish Toxicant, the product was labeled to treat 3 to 6 acre-ft of water (5% rotenon and normal pond use).

See your Private Message about using powdered rotenone. Liquid rotenone such as Prenfish is easier to apply and work with. The rotenone concentration should be higher (2-3ppm) if trying to kill bullheads, green sunfish, carp and a few others. Silty or murky water also interrfears with the active concentration and often requires a higher dose depending on turbidity concentration.

$75/gal is great. Just got some prenfish this week. It comes with hefty freight since shipping hazmat. Bill is right normal fish we can kill at 1 gal/4acft. With bullheads and high organic content 1 gal/1 acft with 5% liquid. I refuse to use the powder life is too short and a royal pain in the you know where.

scambell if you have the restriced use license I bet my supplier can ship to you. If you have problem fish then might need as much as 2 gallons for your 0.5 acft.

Hey thanks lots for the info. After reading what has been posted about powder we might just stick to liquid. We pulled about 1000 BG out of the drained down portion of the lake so far. All good for either being food or making food for our other lake about 9 acres. We are not done yet. Hope to get many more before we apply poison. We will not have more that one acre of water when we get all the water pumped out of the holes.
Hope maybe to have it finished up by next weekend. Moving that many fish by 5 gal buckets and 4 wheelers and the back of pickups is a job

Guys, I have info on the rotenone, much more difficult to get than before. I have found out that it can be gotten in 1 gal, 5 gal, and 55 gal quantities.
Greg has some, but by the time I get it here it would be as much as five gal from our local co-op, around 500 just because of distance not because his price is high. So still looking to find some closer to home and at a lower price.
Anyone have anything close let me know.
