I have an old cement dam on my property that has a vertical groove in the cement that looks like something can be slid down it. I also have a year round creek that flows through the cement dam. I would like to put it back into use and make a pond on the up creek side, but I am not sure what I need to use to make the barrier to slide down the groove. I have included a quick sketch of what the the set up looks like and would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks.
Yes, over the years I've seen a number of fish "raceways" built like that. It easily and inexpensively allows the depth to be adjusted. At least in the old days, it was usually rough-cut oak sized to fit the groove. Oak would be non-toxic, although pressure treated probably could be used without issue.
