Hi all, I'm still filling the pond with well water, almost full. All seems to be going good the ph is 7.79, but i would like someone to look at these pictures of the scum on the surface, is that ok. it really wouldn't be that bad if it were spread over the whole pond .7 acres. but the wind has it all on one end. does this look normal when filling, will it get better or go away? and can it hurt the fish? I do have 2 airators running, I have been reading on here a lot and seems it won't hurt, but i'm just paranoid. Ease my mind please! supposed to be putting fish in this Sunday. Thanks Danny
The scum is likely coming from the reaction of the water on freshly exposed soil that is in your area. The water could be releasing or washing film from the soil?. It should go away fairly soon (weeks?). Wind action and or rain showers should blend the film into the water. It is very likely not harmful to fish.
